ScreeningGuide.ca helps people in Ontario understand which cancer and preventive screening may apply to them, what each test involves, and how to access it — in plain language, from official Ontario and Canadian sources.

What we cover

Ontario's organized cancer screening programs (breast, cervical, colorectal and lung), the provincial abdominal aortic aneurysm screening program, and two topics that are individual decisions rather than population programs: PSA testing for prostate cancer, and bone-health and fracture-risk assessment. Access information reflects Ontario programs and services.

This website covers selected screening topics in Ontario. It is not a complete guide to health checks, preventive care or every individual situation. It provides general education and help finding screening services, not medical advice.

Who is behind the site

ScreeningGuide.ca is powered by Anante Health, an independent startup building patient-facing health information resources. The site carries no advertising or sponsorship and uses no analytics or tracking. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of Ontario, Ontario Health, Cancer Care Ontario, or any hospital or healthcare institution.

How content is developed

Information is drawn first from Ontario program documents and Ministry of Health notices for questions about eligibility, access and coverage, and from Canadian clinical guidelines for clinical questions — including the Canadian Urological Association, the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care and Osteoporosis Canada. Where Canadian guidelines differ, we describe the difference rather than choose for you.

Each topic page links to the sources used to develop it. We also consult independent physicians for input on content. Their involvement is consultative and does not constitute verification, certification or endorsement of this website or its content.

We aim to review and update information regularly, but it may not reflect the latest changes. Confirm what applies to you with your healthcare provider or screening program.

What the site can and cannot do

The screening guide matches your answers to general published guidance. It does not diagnose, confirm your individual eligibility, interpret results, or tell you whether a test is due — those depend on your history, prior results and your healthcare provider or the program. Screening, symptoms and follow-up are different: screening is for people without symptoms; symptoms need assessment; and anyone already under follow-up for a condition or result should keep to the plan made with their clinician.
